Thanks to our Real Men Read Sponsors

Thanks to our 2016-2017 Real Men Read sponsors for bringing MENtors and books into the learning lives of kindergartners. This United Way early-literacy program matches adult male readers with kindergarten classrooms in Richland-Bean Blossom and Spencer-Owen Community School systems. 
 
Sponsors will provide 2,400 books to 400 kindergartners as well as training and support for the 17 mentors who inspire them to read more and learn more.

The support of Boston Scientific, Duke Energy, IU Credit Union, Smithville Fiber, and the Owen County Community Foundation bring MENtors and books into kindergarten classrooms in five local schools. 
 

Duke Energy’s Library level donation ($2,500+) will allow nearly 100 kindergartners to fully participate in the program for 8 months.

Owen County Community Foundation’s Library level donation ($2,500+) will fully support three classrooms with books and volunteers for an entire year.

Smithville Charitable Foundation’s Library level donation ($2,500+) will provide over 600 books to kindergartners in 17 classrooms.

Boston Scientific’s Book level sponsorship ($1,000+) will provide over 300 new books to kindergarteners.

IU Credit Union’s Chapter level donation ($500+) allows for 19 students to fully participate in the program for 8 months.

Our deep appreciation also to the Duke Energy Foundation for providing the funding that launched Real Men Read in Spencer-Owen Community Schools and Richland Bean Blossom Community Schools.

 
Learning to read and learning to enjoy reading are both important to a child’s future success in school and life. Programs like Real Men Read, along with United Way’s other early childhood initiatives, ensure children get the best start.
