Utilities Assistance Roundtable Discussion

Every fall, before the winter heating season, United Way and the Financial Stability Alliance (FSA) bring representatives from local utilities together with social services providers to provide current information about cost-saving programs geared for low- and moderate-income customers. Below is consumer information provided during the most recent event.

Energy Assistance Program

The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) provides assistance with summer and winter energy bills to eligible households in Brown, Monroe, Morgan and Owen Counties. The EAP is provided by the South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP), under the administration of Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) Department of Community Programs. Application and instructions for the program are available at the link below.

Weatherization

SCCAP's Weatherization program reduces energy consumption in low-income households and ensures that each client has a safe, operating heat source. Details of the program are available on the SCCAP website at the link button below.

Utility Providers

In addition to the above programs, local utility providers offer cost- and energy-saving tips for their customers on their respective websites.
