“All of this is happening because you knew it could.”
Barry Lessow, United Way of Monroe County Executive Director, addressed Leadership Givers at a reception Tuesday evening to thank them for their generosity and celebrate the successful end of the annual campaign.
We were honored to applaud and acknowledge the contributions of our Vanguards, donors who gave $1,000 or more.
During the gathering Lauren Robel, IU-Bloomington Provost, spoke about the successful partnership between United Way and Indiana University, attributing this our shared passion for the community and the people in it.
“We share a moral commitment to our home, and this campaign is a measure of it,” she said.
Jim Grandorf, IU Leadership Chair and IU Kelley School of Business Clinical Professor reported that hundreds of Leadership Givers came together to donate $770,000. This year, 37% of Leadership Givers increased their gifts and Young Leaders, donors under the age of 40 who donate $500 or more, increased their giving by 43%.
Thanks to Leadership Givers and the generosity of all donors, United Way exceeded its goal of $1.3 million this year, raising a total of $1,300,128.
Our thanks to the Provost Office for hosting and sponsoring this event.
