"The power of sharing gratitude cannot be underestimated during these times," says Lucy Schaich, director of the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network. "A simple kudo or shout out can buoy our dedicated nonprofit workers and inject a little optimism and thankfulness into our world."

“In recent months, nonprofit and social service professionals have faced tremendous challenges,” said United Way of Monroe County Executive Director Efrat Feferman. “These professionals were already in positions requiring extraordinary strength and dedication, and then responded to new emerging needs of those they serve with incredible compassion and innovation. Please take a few minutes of your day to lift them up by sending a message of appreciation to those you have seen in action, continuing to work, advocate, and care for our most vulnerable.”

"In the midst of unprecedented change, our local nonprofit organizations have shown incredible resiliency, generosity, and innovation," added Community Foundation President and CEO Tina Peterson. "These organizations and workers often represent the heart of our community and define our vibrancy. A Btown Shout Out is a great way to show appreciation for the work they do each and every day to make a difference in Bloomington."

“Nonprofits are the heart of Bloomington,” said Beverly Calender-Anderson, director of the City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Department. “In these unprecedented times, they’ve shown a capacity to respond quickly to challenging situations that has helped to keep residents safe, healthy, and secure. They deserve the entire community’s appreciation.”
