Building a Better Normal: Caring for Our Children
Childcare underwent incredible changes during the pandemic. Providers had to adapt quickly to ensure the health and safety of children and employees. And when schools closed to in-person instruction, many families struggled to find additional affordable childcare while they continued to work.
On Thursday, October 14 Wake Up! with United Way explored “Caring for our Children.” A panel of childcare provider representatives discussed how they faced these challenges, lessons learned during this time, and changes that will ensure preparedness and safety carrying forward. Guest speakers included Katie Broadfoot, Executive Director of Monroe County United Ministries; Jennifer Myers, Director of Monroe Smart Start; and Courtney Payne Taylor, Operations Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington.
