“We just have to ask ourselves ‘who do we want to help’ and get started!” says Julie Brockman, a relationship banker at Old National and a member of the 2018 United Way Campaign Cabinet.
Brockman is new to United Way, having gotten involved at the suggestion of her employer, but she has hit the ground running. She not only “spreads the word” to all her personal friends and coworkers, but also took the initiative to organize a food drive for the holiday season at local branches of Old National Bank.
“I encourage people to look into an agency, something they would be passionate about, to reach out and see what kind of opportunities they have to volunteer,” Brockman said. “It’s amazing how many services there are available. There’s just so many and even the smallest donation can go a long way between all the different agencies!”
When asked about what causes motivated her, Brockman did not hesitate. “Personally, I think that helping our children in the community is important. They are the future and if we can help them, we can improve the future. Every child deserves an opportunity, even those who do not have the same advantages as others. And even though, for me personally, the children are what draws me to help, there is a cause for everyone with United Way!”
