Make a gift, give a book on this Giving Tuesday!
Feel passionate about helping children this holiday season? Now you can put that passion “into words” and help United Way support children’s literacy in Monroe, Owen, and Greene Counties this year on Giving Tuesday, December 3.
United Way staff and board members are joining hands to give back to the community through our Giving Tuesday Make a Gift, Give a Book Fundraiser. For each donation made to United Way’s campaign on Giving Tuesday, staff and board will donate a copy of their favorite children’s book to build children’s literacy throughout the coming year.
Literacy is a strong determinant in children’s success later in life. Unfortunately, many low-income families and other vulnerable families tend to have fewer books in their home. By donating books and other literacy materials, we can help all children have the same opportunity for success.
You can be a part – join hands with us to Make a Gift, Give a Book and transform your dollars into greater literacy and good reading skills in Monroe, Owen, and Greene counties.
When you donate through Facebook, you will help us reach our goal of $1,000. Facebook does not charge fees for nonprofits, so 100 percent of your donation will come to United Way. And to celebrate Giving Tuesday, all donations made on December 3 across the platform will be matched by Facebook up to $7 million; first come, first serve.
You can donate through Facebook here, but other forms of donations will be accepted.
Giving Tuesday is a global movement that harnesses the generosity of millions of people to support the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live. First launched in 2012, Giving Tuesday was a simple idea: one day where all people, no matter where they lived, were encouraged to do good.
Be a part of Giving Tuesday this year with United Way and help give back to our community!
